80's flashback time continues on Jawbone Radio. This time, we talk to the self-proclaimed "Godfathers of Video Game Music" Jerry Buckner and Gary Garcia, otherwise known to video game and music fans alike as Buckner and Garcia. They are probably best known for their 1982 hit song "Pac-Man Fever." Listen in and find out how the album Pac Man Fever has affected their lives, You can also hear a Jawbone exclusive! Two limited release songs by Buckner and Garcia that are unavailable anywhere else on the net: "Mr. T"and "ET, I Love You" a song that is fraught with controversy and heartache. It's a great insight on record labels, and the music business in general. So come on and expose yourself to Pac Man Fever. (Dizziness and clammy hands are a common side effect associated with Pac Man Fever. Consult your doctor before taking any medication.)
This week's Caption This is another one from Chad at MATB. Why is it that people think bad haircuts are worth it? Anyway, get in there!
Got this e-mail today from Randy in OK:Hi. I just wanted to let you know that I intend to contribute to the Jawbone PME fund with the money I raise from my cuss jar. Over the last few years I have been using more and more of those colorful adjectives that I should not be using. So, I have decided to start a cuss jar to try and make me start. I am calling this the Jawbone Cuss Jar and am going to donate all of the money in the jar to the Jawbone PME fund. I will put $1.00 in the jar every time I use the ‘F’ word and all other words will be fifty cents. I have attached a picture of the jar. Notice I have Darth Vader and a Jawa guarding it. This way I know the money will be safe. I will try to keep you posted weekly on the total in the jar.We thank Randy for his effort. And anyone who is around Randy, please get him to drop as many F-bombs as possible!

I am a fan of The Office. So kill me. I think the American version's office couple, Pam and Jim, hold a slight edge over the UK's version office romance, but I still feel the UK version is superior. Either way, I love the show and this is the only thing I could think about after hearing Jonathon Coulton's newest TAW.
See the Flickr page for additional notes on the image.
It's the interview we FINALLY got! For longtime fans of the show, this has been my white whale. the Moby DIck to my Captain Ahab...and we finally landed it. This is our exclusive interview with Mystery Science Theatre 3000's Michael J. Nelson. The pop culture refs come at you quick on this show, so be sure to have your pencils ready. We talk MST, summer movies, home theatre and what Mike and the Bots have been up to since the show was shot into space eight years ago. Enjoy!
We just got confirmation that tonight we will in fact be talking to none other than Mike Nelson of MST3K fame! Long time fans of the show will remember that our first interview with Mike went south after my software crashed. Well, one year later, we are getting the chance to talk to him again! Barring the electrical storms that are playing havoc here, we should be talking to Mike in a few. Keep watching the feed for the new show coming soon.

Jawbone Wedding Photography is now open for business. I'm kidding. Ok, half-kidding. This was a portrait that was done for The Knightwise Podcast for his wedding happening next month. They didn't hire a wedding photographer, so they opted for a portrait done by yours truly. All I can say is Borgs Rule!

Twas a busy weekend indeed. But I was able to do up this little drawing for Jonathan Coulton's Rock and Roll Boy. Thanks to Xavier for the inspiration!
LD continues this week with more submissions than ever before! Thanks again for all the stuff. From Sasquatch, viral marketing, Weird Al, cartoons, odd news and much more, it certainly is a boulliabaise this week, so let's get down to it."THE ratings-starved Maury Povich and Connie Chung weekend show on MSNBC ended its short, six-month run with a bizarre send-off - sure to live on as a tone-deaf stunt Chung will not soon be allowed to forget. Perched on the edge of a white grand piano and decked out in a full-length evening gown, the former CBS and CNN anchorwoman warbled a farewell song that put down Dan Rather (with whom she co-anchored the CBS news in the early 1990s), her husband and cable TV - all at the same time."Via Drudge.
Ok, for this week's Caption This, as promised there are no more fat people. Only washed out weird androgynous people from the early 90's. Enjoy!
Here's a really cool link from Phillip via Jay is Games:Animator vs. Animation, by 17-year-old Alan Becker, draws a scene in the epic wars waged between the drawing and the drawn. Tensions draw high as the action starts simple and accelerates both in quantity and quality through the work, and the clever manipulation of screenshots will likely draw the appreciative attention of anyone who's ever worked in flash.
Got this video yesterday and there is so many weird things about it, I don't even know where to start. First off, it's a Bollywood Beatles cover, which is strange enough. But then the guys playing the Beatles look like wax figures. Then all of a sudden, about 30 seconds in, the Bollywood version of Taylor HIcks comes convulsing in from the right hand side. He looks like Joe Cocker after eating curried chicken laced with PCP. Anywho, it's all too much to take. But I guess that's why I dig it. Thanks to Brian from Coverville for the link.
Tonight's show. we are all over the place. A possible 80's theme? Auctioning off our bed, condensed spilt pea soup and more. You figure it out. They Might Be Giants makes it okay in the end. So that helps.
"...the process of becoming an effective World of Warcraft guild master amounts to a total-immersion course in leadership. A guild is a collection of players who come together to share knowledge, resources, and manpower. To run a large one, a guild master must be adept at many skills: attracting, evaluating, and recruiting new members; creating apprenticeship programs; orchestrating group strategy; and adjudicating disputes. Guilds routinely splinter over petty squabbles and other basic failures of management; the master must resolve them without losing valuable members, who can easily quit and join a rival guild. Never mind the virtual surroundings; these conditions provide real-world training a manager can apply directly in the workplace."Whodathunkit? Check out the whole story.
"Greetings, I'm just emailing you to tell you about my link dump, called The Almighty Dump I just started it today, so it would be cool if you could mention it on your sites/podcasts, because, after all, a link dump is no good without scavengers to poke around in it."Go forward and searching the dump!
There is an old saying that once a Gmail account gets close to 98% full, you need to do an old fashioned LINK DUMP! This week's Link Dump features stuff from all over the place, some show related, others in true linkdumpism fashion are just Random Weird Stuff (RWS). Maybe that should be the new name for this feature LD: RWS. I'll get my people on that right away."Well a friend of mine and myself were talking about the new lesbian Batwoman and he wondered aloud about what her nemesis would be. He came up will Bull-Dyke and subsequently came up with Bull-Dogg. Here is my version of what she'd look like. Hopefully this will be my first ink and photoshop color project."See the image in all its glory here.

Check out the actual photo on Flickr to see my ramblings about this week's Thing A Week.

"Len, after reading the Show 114 comments about soccer, I followed Wayne in the UK's suggestion to take a look at http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com. I had a Richard-Dreyfus-in-Close-Encounters-staring-at-a-pile-of-mashed-potatoes moment when I saw a picture of the cup itself. It looked eerily familiar. Then it struck me: alien hand grasping the planet earth War of the Worlds style! NO!That is really strange, Phillip. In fact, I'm wondering if me singing "Tom Cruise Crazy" will end tragically with me and my entire family bludgeoned to death with one of these FIFA trophies. Let's hope not.
We Americans know and care nothing for soccer, and this may be our salvation! Perhaps we collectively sensed something that nobody else could. The Soccer Overlords may have already assimilated many of your soccer-crazed foreign listeners, but please get the word out! "

Dovetailing from the Batwoman/Lesbian story from last week. Adrants points to this Flickr set of recent Coors ads that are marketed to gays and lesbians.
"(this campaign)...hopes to expand its market share by, well, going after those that live the gay lifestyle and portraying that lifestyle in their ads."Discuss!
It's 6-6-06. Should we be scared? Of course not! Not when we have a new podcast! Tonight's show, we talk about this past week's exciting soccer game, bad video games, Alton Brown and much more.
This week's Link Dump features photos from lsteners. So I guess we can call this the "Jawbone Scrapbook" portion of LD. Or something clever like that. I got nothing."We actually performed the song twice. The first time, no one was really listening and I think we scared away an old dude. The second time, we played for a really hot girl, and she enjoyed it."Hilarious. Lucky for us, they documented the event on black and white film and shared it with us. You can see a large version of their photo here.

Looks cool, but it had to be pretty heavy. In fact, according to this guy, the arms weighed 35 lbs each. Check it out. Thanks for the link, Chad!

I would buy this album. This is for Jonathan Coulton's Thing A Week song. "Soft Rocked By Me."
Chad over at PodastRant sends me the latest image of what the new Brokeback Batgirl will look like. Click on the image to see a larger shot. He also points out the ironic fact that Batgirl was originally introduced to dispel gay rumors about Batman and Robin. Source.
Batwoman as a Lesbian?DC Comics is resurrecting the classic comic book character as a lesbian, unveiling the new Batwoman in July as part of an ongoing weekly series that began this year. "She has some past connection with Bruce Wayne. And she's also had a past love affair with one of our lead characters, Renee Montoya."Thanks to Mark for the link.
