Just found out that one of the funniest comedies on TV right now, Arrested Development is in danger of having it's production scaled back by FOX to make room for the awful stinkbag of a show "American Dad". If you have any respect for good comedy, you'll go here to sign the petiton to keep Arrested Development on the air.
Go. Now!
It Might Not Be as Bad as It Seems...
ReplyDeleteActually, I think you're hearing about this a little late.
However, as a big fan of the show (although one who's been, admittedly, a wee bit disappointed in the majority of the eps so far this season), I dutifully performed a Google news search to find out as much as I could when I first heard.
Much to my relief--and a balm for my own cynicism--I found a great article in the San Fran Chron, and I have chosen to place all my hopes in the possible--yet probable--reasons it discusses for the show's prod. halt.
Essentially, they are halting prod. on the show to actually *save* the show. Yes, you read that right. Here is the link to the article if you care to read it (from February 14, 2005--I had to break it up to get it fit reasonably, so you'll have to cut and paste twice or close up the space, I think):

I couldn't get your link to work, unfortunately, but I'll take your word for it. I'm glad they aren't taking the show off completely. What a mistake that would be. I do agree with you that this seasons eps are little lackluster...and I think the Martin Short thing was a little too broad for that show. But overall, it's still a well paced show. And you just have to love David Cross. He's a funny funny man.
