Richard Pryor, Dead at 65

Sad news this weekend. One of the funniest stand-ups ever, Richard Pryor died from a heart attack yesterday.

I remember watching his routine while growing up and thinking it was the funniest thing I had ever seen. His movies should become training films for young comedians. If you haven't seen any of them, you gotta check em out now. I recommend Live On the Sunset Strip. Hilarious film.

Goodbye, funnyman.

  1. I can't believe it, we have lost another great comic, Rodney Dangerfield last year and Redd Foxx a while back. Well, he will make God laugh I guess.

Just today I was on archive.org, looking at the archives of his website.

  2. First Johnny Carson now Richard Pryor. There will never be another Richard Pryor, or anyone even close. I thought Dave Chapelle might be able to enter that status but now he's out of the scene. Rest in peace Richard.

  4. Has taken a couple of days for Richard Pryor's death to sink in. Telling the truth - the real, unvarnished truth takes a lot of courage - and even though being a professional 'clown' allows one to get away with a hell of a lot more than most what Mr. Pryor did was exceptional. He's dead now - at least his suffering is over, (man sorry for being so maudlin)
