Best. Headline. Ever.

I'm sure this was done on purpose. But if it wasn't, it could the coolest accidental geek headline ever. See it.

More and More Monsters In The Wild

I've been getting a lot of responses from people who are receiving their monsters in the mail and I thought it would be a good idea to show off some of them.

The photo to the left comes from Annie, who told me today that after watching some of the videos, her nine year old son went to grab his own crayons and markers to make up his own monster. I think that's one of the coolest residual parts os this project -- that I am inspiring people, and lots of kids, to draw, be creative and come up with their own creations. I love getting e-mails like that. They never fail to make my day.

Next up is Justin, who asked for a WOW related monster and he got one!

Here is Monkeyman from the first round. Good to see he made it safely as well.

And finally, I got this tonight from a big supporter of MBM, who ordered a Monster Pugdog for his sister's birthday. Did I mention these make great gifts? Hmmm...anyway, enjoy!

Keep the Monsters In The Wild coming folks. I love seeing them!

Monster By Mail: Phase 3 Teaser

Well, I am in the last 50 or so images left for the second round of Monster By Mail. So, I posted a new image at MBM, teasing the next round. Anyone care to take a guess as to what the next theme will be?

Schooch is In!

And thank the heavens! Eurovision would not be complete without this flamboyant entry from the UK. Thanks to Dan for the heads up and seems to know way too much about this competition.

Zombie Mods On Killer Vespas

I gotta tell you, I've been drawing a lot of zombies lately. But for some reason, I've been looking forward to drawing these zombies. I had a mental picture of what I wanted the finished drawing to look like and damn, if it didn't come out almost exactly as I envisioned it. I'll file this one again in the "wish I didn't have to give these away" category.

Looks Like Someone Took My Advice...

They probably aren't a Jawbone listener, but it seems like someone had the same idea I had regarding that loser at VTU. Link. There are a ton more on the sidebar too.

Like this one.

Mystery Question 5-7-07

"Bobby Bigelow was an average sixth grader. That is, except for the fact that he had the mind of Sherlock Holmes himself. One day, while walking around the block, he noticed two of the students at school arguing over something.

The two boys were Jeremy and Jacob. Jeremy was accusing Jacob of killing his pet cockroach! As Bobby looked at the shiny back of the creature, Jacob explained his story.

"Jeremy let me take care of his cockroach for the day," began Jacob, "I kept it with me the whole day. About half an hour ago, I noticed that the cockroach had not moved for a long time. When I found that it didn't move when I tapped the cage, I called Jeremy. I left the cockroach exactly as it was, and here we are. Jeremy accusing me of killing his cockroach."

After a few moments, Bobby concluded that Jacob had indeed killed the cockroach.

Why was he so sure?"
Dan got the answer last week. The answer was a candle.

Maybe this is what he does to sober up.

Help Me Find The Funniest Video I Have Ever Seen

So, a few years ago, before Tivo, my family and I were watching AFV (or Amercia's Funniest Home Video). This one episode featured one of the funnieist videos i have ever seen. There were so many layers of funny to it, I just had to see it again. But to this day, I haven't seen it since, in a repeat or even on YouTube.

The video It took place in a backyard. There was a guy with a mullet standing next to his girlfriend. Now, that alone is comic gold enough, but like I said, layers of funny. He is tossing a football around and his trusty dog is standing next to him. He tosses the football to his buddy. The cameraman follows the ball a few times. On one throw back, the ball hits the girlfriend in the nose. This startles the dog who then runs frantically away from mullet boy and girlfriend. There is a leash wrapped around mullet boys leg and when the dog runs, he pulls the rug out from under mullet boy and he slips and falls on his back to the ground.

Now, I know what you're thinking. What was so funny about that? Some mullet guy slips and falls and that's it? Well, the kicker is that when the camera pans over to the dog, we see that the reason mullet boy fell was because the leash was wrapped around his fake leg. The dog is running around dragging mullet boy's fake leg and mullet boy is hopping after him.

When I saw this for the first time, I almost couldn't catch my breath, I was laughing so hard. And I have not been able to find the video since.

So here is the task: If you can find me this video online somewhere on YouTube or Google, I will draw you your own personal Monster By Mail Or if you prefer, another little drawing if you're not into monsters.

So there ya go. Good luck and happy hunting!

ChewieHoff

In the last post, I made reference to the fact that I thought The Hoff sounded like Chewbacca as he ate that burger, shirtless and on the floor. Well, our friend DJ Hojo confirms that fact by giving us this. You decide.

Hassling The Hoff

By now, I'm sure everyone has seen this video that is making it's way through the tubes of David Hasselhoff drunk and shirtless, eating a sandwich off the floor and being reprimanded by his daughter. But what I want to know is, does anyone else think he sounds like Chewbacca in this video?

UPDATE: Here is the link to the full version.

Should I Be Excited Or Feel Sorry For Her?

Kari Byron, the hot female redheaded portion of one of my favorite shows, Mythbusters, has a spread coming out in FHM's next issue. Maybe it's just me, but she doesn't end up looking like herself in the photos. In fact, in most of the photos, and in the behind the scenes video available on the site, she looks really uncomfortable and awkward - which might be par for the course for a geeky science girl. Perhaps the spread will get some guys out there going, but my takeaway is that I end up feeling kind of bad for her. Am I wrong? What do you guys think?

Heroes Speculation

I don't know how many of you are watching "Heroes", but I have a question perhaps you can help me figure out.

WARNING FOR SPOILERS, for those who care about that kind of stuff...

Since Peter Petrelli can absorb powers of people around him, he can heal himself right? So why, on the last episode, did he have a huge scar across his face? Why did everything heal on him except for that?

Discuss.

In Reply To Apelad

I drew monster 100 of Phase 2 last night and to celebrate (in my own weird way of celebrating) I drew an extra monster for Adam "Apelad" Koford. This is my response to the monkey he drew for me. I love that we still live in a world where monkeys and monsters can be drawn as visual responses to one another.

Marvel Vs. Dc

Apple and John Hodgman...can your influence reach out any further? I think no.

Attention Unsigned Musician Types

That's right! You with the Casio. I'm looking at you! I'm in the market for music to put behind my monster videos. That's where you come in. If you are an unsigned musician, a tinkerer or you have some old songs you wrote in your college dorm years ago that sound pretty good, send em along to me at jawboneradio(at)gmail.com. Make sure you put the subject as "MBM Music". Songs should be roughly 3 to 4 minutes in length. It would be better if it's monster-related or scary. Humorous monster songs are a plus. If it's not, don't let that scare you off. I'm just looking for really good original music to put with these drawings. If it's good, I'll feature it on an upcoming video. If it's REALLY good, I might just play it on our podcast. Voila! Instant fame on the internets! I've gotten some really good tracks from some people so far, but I am starting to run out. And, believe it or not, the PMN has a limited number of songs about zombies and monsters.

Thanks in advance for your help. Carry on!

Whoa...

This is pretty cool. Apparently, Monster By Mail was picked up by a little place called Yahoo! today as a Daily pick. Check out the image from a friend. This project is quickly becoming a monster of its own. Anyway, glad to have everyone along for the ride. I anticipate the next round will start near the end of the month, so please keep checking back here or at the site for more info.

You Know What Today Is Don't You?

If you're a Coulton fan, you do. Get out there and enjoy yourself today. And if you're not over 18, please do not enjoy the following clip for a monster I drew recently called "The First of May". Hide your charpeis, people!!

Got A Square To Spare?

Sheryl Crow wants your hands to smell. How do I know? A recent environmental call to action on her website asked the world to use "only one square per restroom visit, except, of course, on those pesky occasions where two to three could be required".

I don't know about anyone else, but I need at least 14 sheets to feel right about myself. Does that make me a bad person? Anyway, something to think about on Earth Day, a celebration that was started by a guy who killed his girlfriend and stuffed her in a trunk to rot.

Mystery Question 4-30-07

Here is this week's stumper:
"One day, a father went to his three sons and told them that he would die soon and he needed to decide which one of them to give his property to. He decided to give them all a test. He said, "Go to the market my sons, and purchase something that is large enough to fill my bedroom, but small enough to fit in your pocket. From this I will decide which of you is the wisest and worthy enough to inherit my land." So they all went to the market and bought something that they thought would fill the room, yet was still small enough that they could fit into their pockets. Each son came back with a different item. The father told his sons to come into his bedroom one at a time and try to fill up his bedroom with whatever they had purchased. The first son came in and put some pieces of cloth that he had bought and laid them end to end across the room, but it barely covered any of the floor. Then the second son came in and laid some hay, that he had purchased, on the floor but there was only enough to cover half of the floor. The third son came in and showed his father what he had purchased and how it could fill the entire room yet still fit into his pocket. The father replied, "You are truly the wisest of all and you shall receive my property." What was it that the son had showed to his father?"
Last week's answer: Xadrian came the closest. The servant said, "My mother wants to see her grandson swinging on a swing of gold."

I have no idea who this is standing next to Raquel Welch, but I agree with Michael from SLC; this is definite Caption This material.

From Yngwie to A Real Guitar Hero

Here's one for all you XBOXers out there. Over the weekend, Ajay from All Axis Radio asked me if he should get Guitar Hero 2 for his 360. I was all like, "hell yeah! that game rocks!" I thought I was pretty decent at it...that was until I saw this kid. 8 year old Ben totally destroys this game on expert and makes me feel like a total dork for not being able to get past a three star rating.

For all of you who are scratching their heads wondering what the hell I am talking about, just watch the video. Thanks to Scott for the link.
