I am entering the Flight of the Conchords poster contest with this little entry. I spent way too much time on this poster and probably should have been doing something else. And I'll probably end up doing more. But for now, it is what it is.

While I'm on the subject of contests, a huge congrats go out to Adam Koford and Marcus Parcus, two of the original hobo artists who won this years New Yorker Eustace Tilley Contest. As you may remember, I won with one of my entries in last years contest. I missed out on the deadline for this one, mostly because it wasn't run through Flickr. But I love all the winning entries, especially Marcus' Watchmen-inspired image. Too cool!

Jawbone/Cinematic Titantic Meetup?

Listener Rebecca from Chicago suggested this little plan for those hoping to attend the Cinematic Titantic event in Cleveland:

"In an effort to boost my flagging spirits, The Boy suggested that we track down an upcoming Cinematic Titanic show and, by hook or by crook, go there. As it happens, the closest show will be in Cleveland.

This is where youze guys come into the picture. But not in a stalk-y, stabby way. I thought it would be kinda cool if we could see how many JawBoners we could round up out there in your listening community who would also want to make the trip Cleveland-ward and see the show. We could all meet for dinner / drinks / brunch whatever before or after the show or something. In a restaurant, of course. I'm not suggesting that you host America for the weekend."

So, what say you? Is anyone coming into Cleveland that weekend? If so, would there be any interest in an informal get-together? Please post in the comments.

Run Runaway - What An Apt Title

Okay, I know I am 20+ years late on this, but I couldn't get it out of my mind this morning. I don't know how much Slade spent on this video, but it's pretty safe to assume that if the weird facial and tongue contortions made it into the final cut, it wasn't a whole hell of a lot.

BTW, I woke up with this running through my head this morning. I think it has something to do with detox after watching that horrendous M. Night movie "The Happening" last night. Not even Rifftrax could save it from its "horrible-ability".

Bacon Explosion

I have to thank listener Greg Epps for this one. If there was anything that would make my heart stop - literally - for bacon. It would be this recipe. This is almost. ALMOST as bad as Adam Richman's feat of eating 15 dozen oysters in under half an hour.

I decided to make Wil Wheaton more or a fan by doing some art of him. This cartoon is based on this infamous photo, which incidentally I used as a Caption This a long time ago. Hope he likes it!

Incidentally, Photoshop decided to crap out before I could save this drawing, so looks like I'll have to rebuild it again. Ah well. At least I was able to grab a quick screenshot of it. So is life.

Awesome Overload

Over the weekend, my friends Paul, Storm and JoCo met MythBusters host Adam Savage in San Francisco. In honor of their meeting, I was asked by Paul to create an artists rendering of it. Paul was also supposed to hand Adam $20. The $20 thing didn't happen, but the artwork was handed off to Adam. And here is the visual proof.

I gotta say, so far this year has been full of awesomeness. And I owe Paul and Storm and Coulton for a lot of it. Click to see the bigger pic. And click here to see the art up close.

Lego Mexican Restaurant

For Christmas, we got the kids Legos. A LOT of Legos. And yesterday, I come downstairs to see they have built a Lego restaurant. But they didn't just build the restaurant, they built the the sidewalk, a construction crew, stoplights and a main street. Not only that, but the restaurant was a Mexican place. How do I know? They made a marquee out of Lego's that spelled out "MEXICAN." I was floored by their creativity. You can see all the shots right here.
